My boyfriend and I told my parents and his parents that i was pregnant (I am now 15 weeks 6 days pregnant in 30 minutes, i’m in London)

We told them and my parents were a little mad but wanted to discuss it with me. His parents did as well, they’re not being as supportive as i’d like them to, but it’s okay, they’re not my parents and my bf isn’t the pregnant one. Anyway, My dad is happy for me believe it or not, he was sort of mad at first but he’s supporting me a lot in that sense.. as for my mom, my mother is very giddy and “into it” now. She can’t wait to be a grandmother. Haha. The point is though, she’s a little too into it. While i’m getting ready for bed, she always says goodnight to me, AND the unborn baby. I find it funny actually so that’s not really the problem. She’s assigned a nickname which i find cute and funny, “Lil Bean”, for my baby. So those aren’t the problems once again. The thing that annoys me is she will not let me drink even caffeine free coke, she thinks it will harm the baby, she won’t let me do pretty much ANYTHING that i used to do. She even suggested i start homeschooling now and i can rest at home (I’m not even showing that much yet! and theres only a few weeks of school left), she won’t let me play games with my dog, she thinks i will also harm the baby. I have in no way done anything to “harm” my unborn baby at all whatsoever, in fact, i go out of my way to make sure my baby is safe in there, and my actions won’t cause him or her problems, but i think my mom is over doing it. Who said playing fetch with your dog, going on escalators, drinking caffeine free coke, going to school, stretching, laying on your right side, walking down the stairs “fast”, eating popcorn, and “talking on the phone too much” AND MORE, can hurt your baby? I’ve NEVER heard about that, and now she’s just taking away the things i love but i know wouldn’t hurt the baby. Please help me, how can i tell her to stop a different way than i already have, so many times i’ve told her “Mom, i’m fine, i know what i’m doing” etc. According to her she knows i am responsible, but she constantly has this thought in her mind that i will really do something to harm my baby, which i would never do. I’m monitoring the food i’m eating, watching my weight making sure i don’t have too much junk food, and making sure all of the other requirements for a healthy pregnancy are taken care of, MYSELF.

Sure, i love the support and the fact that she cares, but sometimes it’s just too much, you know? How can i tell her in a more sincere way that might help her understand? I’m going to do it tomorrow since it’s night here and shes bound to limit me from my unharmful activities. Thank you so much!

I would really just be grateful that she’s happy at all, and not trying to strangle you. Telling her you don’t want the help might make you sound ungrateful and she could become a complete bitch after that.

Many doctors will push women with high FSH and/or low inhibin B into using donor eggs. Forgive my bluntness, but F your doctor and any doctor who suggest donor eggs without even trying fertility treatment. I have a high FSH (highest was 14) and many doctors would have turned me away but, thankfully, I have a FSH friendly reproductive endocrinologist (RE) who found the right IVF medication protocol for me. Here is a great site you can navigate through and find a FSH friendly RE http://www.highfshinfo.com/ Your FSH is elevated but not that high! I have read that inhibin B can be treated with prednisone and dexamethasone, in order to induce ovulation. I would ask about that. Know that the inhibin B test is new and not often done and that many people who have been successful with low inhibin B just never knew they had it. I was looking at IVFconnections and found some women who had low inhibin B (one was 10 the other 14), elevated FSH, and both had success. Also, FSH can fluctuate from month to month. Know that many clinics will turn you away not because you can’t get pregnant but because you MAY have a more difficulties or your first cycle many be a bit of trial and error to find a protocol that works for you and this can lower their success rate. They prefer to get the under 30 gals in there who are great responders and turn women like us away who do make not make lots of eggs. They turn women away to keep their success rates high. Can you imagine the many women who only hear they can get pregnant with donor eggs and their RE’s never attempt to try their own eggs? It’s heartbreaking.

Egg quality can improve with certain diet and lifestyle changes and by using a medication protocol that fits you. After making a few diet and lifestyle changes my egg quality greatly improved from poor to “beautiful” and my FSH went from 14 to 8. Quality is the goal here, not quantity.

Have you tried acupuncture? If you haven’t I highly recommend that you start at least 3 months before you seek fertility treatments or IVF. I started acupuncture after 3 failed IVF cycles. I also started taking wheatgrass, royal jelly, and fish oil. Also, I started getting gentle exercise (walking, yoga) daily to increase blood flow. This is so important! Embryos need a hospitable environment. Wheatgrass helps alkalize and exercise helps increase blood flow to the reproductive organs. Ask your RE about taking baby aspirin. There is evidence that taking baby aspirin in conjunction with IVF increases success rates as does acupuncture. I hate to say this and I’ll probably get thumbs down, but if she knows you are TTC, why does she call you for support? I have had friends in your shoes and I don’t offer any information or seek support unless they ask. If she’s leaning on you like that and making casually about you losing weight to get pregnant or adopting, why should you be the one to emotionally support her?
I know it’s best to help others but when it is emotionally damaging to you, you need to step away. Explain to her how it bothers you to discuss her pregnancy at length because of your own difficulties and ask her to please limit the baby conversations.
sorry I just can’t see how anyone could be that insensitive.
